But the chickens she did harm.

Because she was sometimes a bad girl,

Still she sparkled bright like a pearl.

She was always in his heart.

Sometimes he needed to punish her,

Then everything became like a blur.

But she put it under the covers.

Her father shuddered,

In concern he muttered:
