The ship cut through the Azurea Ocean, heading straight toward the legendary Ice Wall. Onboard, the Vespertine soldiers—now mercenaries for the Riftzone—kept a tight grip on Ivan. As they approached, the ship came to a sudden halt; the ocean for two kilometers ahead was completely frozen solid.
Through the thick mist, Ivan finally saw it. He had heard the myths, but seeing the massive Ice Wall with his own eyes was surreal. It stood just two kilometers away. A soldier stepped off the ship, walked to a small shack on the frozen expanse, and returned with a knife. Four soldiers pinned Ivan down. Before he could react, the one with the knife severed his right pinky finger and tossed it onto the frozen sea.
They dragged him across the ice and left him shivering, 501 meters away from the wall. Ivan screamed, his voice cracking in the cold, "What did I ever do to you? I was just trying to escape my country!" Overcome by the agonizing pain, he lost consciousness.
Suddenly, he woke up gasping, clutching his finger. "Just a dream..." he muttered. He was back on the ship. For a moment, it felt like the nightmare was over. But then, he was whisked away to a 5-star hotel, treated to a lavish meal. Just as he started to relax, his vision blurred again. The world shifted.
He was back on the ice, clutching his wounded hand. The line between reality and hallucination was shattering.
Believing he was finally in the real world, Ivan began walking toward the wall, drawn to a cave-like structure he saw embedded in the ice. As he stumbled forward, clutching his hand, he stumbled upon a set of private notes lying on the frozen ground. They read: "When the ice melts, the true world shall be revealed."
Ivan’s mind raced. How did these notes connect to where he stood? He paused, a terrifying realization hitting him: he couldn't feel the cold. Not a bit.
He stood up, staring at the ground in panic. If it was this cold, why wasn't he freezing? He looked ahead, but the landscape was empty—the massive wall he had been walking toward had vanished. Panic-stricken, he turned to run, but he slammed straight into an invisible barrier. He fell back, gasping for air, his face pale with terror.
He looked down; blood was still dripping from his severed pinky, hitting the ground. But he felt no pain anymore. He looked behind him, then left, then right. Everywhere he looked, he saw the Ice Wall. He was trapped in a cage of ice.
The blood that had hit the ground began to freeze, yet Ivan still felt no cold. He looked up, desperate for an escape, thinking he might climb out. But as he looked down one last time at the frozen blood, the ground beneath him simply vanished, and Ivan began to fall into the abyss.17Please respect copyright.PENANAoN3NKVqsyL
