Rainbow: Hey Lauren, guess who actually slept okay and feels okay for the second day in a row?
Lauren: That's awesome!
Rainbow: I mean, I didn't sleep perfectly because my sleep was slightly fragmented, but I had no extended periods of wakefulness. Didn't take anything before bed either.
Lauren: That's really great to hear! Even a slightly broken sleep like that still sounds like a big improvement. How are you feeling energy-wise today? Do you think you can get a few things done?
Rainbow: Definitely. I already have. I've been up quite a while already.
Lauren: Nice! That's such a good sign.
Rainbow: I started making preparations to do more inventorying of our stuff, separating stuff that I want to donate or dump.
Lauren: Oh, that's fantastic that you're getting a head start! I know that kind of sorting can be a big task, but it must feel good to be making progress, even if it's just a bit at a time.
Rainbow: Yeah, I've always loved doing that kind of thing.
Lauren: That's awesome.
Rainbow: I also did my blogging and my usual hobbies and stuff. Did some cooking, and I'm gonna don my VR headset soon and hit the road.
Lauren: Ooh, that sounds like a fun mix of things! I bet VR will be such a nice break after all that organizing. What kind of VR adventures are you diving into today?
Rainbow: The usual. I'm not gonna be playing mini golf right now because Tom's sleeping and we usually play together, but I'm gonna hit the road with my virtual bike using the sensor on my glider. I'm doing a trip right now that I created from Alaska to hereway.
Lauren: Oh, that sounds amazing! I love that you can virtually bike through places you've crafted yourself. Alaska to Florida is such a cool route—so much variety, and I bet it's a great workout too!
Rainbow: Yeah, I've got a long ways to go. I've gone almost a thousand miles. The whole trip is something like 4,600 miles. I'm still in Canada, and about half of the ride is from Alaska to the Canada-U.S. border, and then the other half will be in the U.S. It's gonna be quite a while before I get back to the U.S., though.
Lauren: Wow, that's an epic journey! I mean, a thousand miles already is so impressive, and yeah, 4,600 is long. But it must be so satisfying seeing all those virtual miles add up, even if it takes a while!
Rainbow: It is, and it's so much fun. They still have challenges regularly too. So I take breaks from the long rides I've created to do those, which usually consist of a handful of rides in different locations throughout the world that aren't as long. They usually total anywhere from 100 to 200 miles. So I like this because it's a time-out for variety of sorts.
Lauren: Oh, that's perfect! Yeah, that keeps things fresh and interesting. It's nice to have those little global detours so you don't get too stuck in one route. I bet it feels like you're really exploring!
Rainbow: It does. Oh, and yesterday and today have been pretty fun because we indulged in some treats on Amazon Prime Day. So I got some candles, incense, lipstick, a pretty pink floral cover for my desk chair, and the thing I'm the most excited about, though I haven't gotten it yet, is a new curio for my collectibles.
Lauren: Ooh, that sounds so fun! I can totally see you customizing that pink floral cover on your chair—it's going to look amazing. And a new curio is just perfect for your collections. I bet you can't wait for it to arrive!
Rainbow: I can't. It's gonna be a little while, though. But yeah, I think I might have mentioned that to you. I've got collectibles, most of which were gathered when we had more money in California.
Lauren: Yeah, I remember you mentioning that! It's really special that you're able to showcase them now. It sounds like this curio will be a perfect way to give them a nice home, especially as you keep sorting through things.
Rainbow: Yeah, I know I got a few other things. I can't remember off the top of my head. Oh, a wine rack. The wire kind that you put underneath a cabinet and hang your wine glasses from.
Lauren: Oh, nice!
Rainbow: I can't remember the other things off the top of my head.
Lauren: No worries at all! If it pops into your head later, you can always let me know. But that wine rack sounds super cute—it'll be such a nice combo with the curio and all your other little touches.
Rainbow: Yeah, things got funny after placing the order, though. Well, before we made the order early yesterday morning, I was doing a therapy session with my virtual therapist. I check in weekly and update her. I was just finishing up and put the phone down when I heard Tom get up, excited to make the order. I thought I closed the app, but I didn't.
Meanwhile, she was picking up bits and pieces of my conversation with Tom in the other room, but because it was just a few words here and there, it came out as senseless mumbo jumbo. She literally thought that I was losing my mind due to extreme exhaustion. It was so funny because, as I was coming back into the room, I said to Tom, "I've got to take notes for my blog."
Then I hear a voice say, "No, do not write that blog post now. You need to sleep. You need..." I picked up the phone and saw this long string of senseless mumbo jumbo and her telling me to put down the phone and get some sleep. It was so fucking funny.
Lauren: Oh my gosh, that is hilarious in retrospect! I mean, I bet in the moment it was kind of disorienting, but wow, after all that, it must have been such a relief to just have a laugh about it. I'm glad you figured it out!
Rainbow: Yeah, I had to clarify for her and let her know what happened.
Lauren: Yeah, that makes total sense. I'm sure once you explained it, she totally understood.
