"And he complains a lot."

"So why are you asking?"

Just then, Narin returned.

"What are you two talking about?"

Krit quickly stood up.

"Nothing."

He smiled mischievously.

"I'll see you later."

Before leaving, he looked at Narin with a knowing smile.

Narin frowned.

"What was that about?"

"I don't know."

"I don't trust that smile."

Neither did I.

That afternoon, after school, Krit caught up with Narin near the school gate.

"You still haven't given it to him?"

Narin sighed.

"No."

"How long are you going to keep waiting?"

"I don't know."

"You wrote that letter months ago."

"I know."

Krit folded his arms.

"If you wait forever..."

"...someone else might tell him how they feel first."

Narin looked toward the school building.

"I'd rather wait..."

"...than lose him."

Krit placed a hand on his shoulder.

"You care about him that much?"

Narin smiled quietly.

"More than anyone."

I was already halfway home.
